Ontario's professional engineers were concerned that the Ontario government did not have them on their radar screen. Several government changes were introduced that encroached on the self-regulatory body’s legislative role and responsibilities. Leveraging its lengthy regulatory history and the broad involvement of professional engineers in society, Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) sought ways to improve government understanding of PEO and the value and importance of the professional engineering license.

The Ontario Opticians Association is a voluntary, professional association representing over 2,400 opticians practicing in Ontario and regulated by the College of Opticians. Opticians were denied permission to administer sight testing without the authorization of optometrists, due to the actions of a previous government.

The Canadian Chemical Producers' Association wanted to increase the Ontario government’s understanding of key issues facing its industry and help ensure the Province remains a competitive place for the manufacturing sector.

CGA Ontario wanted to convince the Ontario government to give CGAs, along with CAs and CMAs, equal access to public accounting licenses, a change they had been lobbying to have implemented for over 40 years.

In light of Premier McGuinty’s education priorities, the OACC wanted to highlight to government the career colleges’ position as a critical player in the post-secondary system.

This national body wanted to promote savings for post-secondary education and secure government financial support for the sector.
