Howard Brown, B.Journ, CAAP, APR

Howard Brown has provided strategic counsel to companies, organizations and governments across Canada for over 30 years.

In 1991, he founded Brown & Cohen Communications & Public Affairs Inc. (formerly H.G. Brown & Associates). His vision was to create a company that uniquely combined public and government relations, reflecting his own professional training and passion for politics.

Prior to establishing Brown & Cohen, he spent over a decade working in marketing and public relations for Royal LePage Residential Real Estate Services and Mother's Restaurants (Canada and U.S.).

Howard was also Special Assistant to the Minister of Regional Economic Expansion in Ottawa as well as the former Ontario Policy Chair of the Liberal Party of Canada and Vice President, Communications of the Ontario Liberal Party.

Still very politically active on the federal, provincial and municipal levels, Howard helps organizations with their public affairs strategies, whether to influence legislative change or increase stakeholder awareness.

Howard is also dedicated to the not-for-profit sector and in particular to the Brain Injury Association of Canada where he is a Founding Director.

In 1993, Howard received the Canada 125 Governor-General's Medal for community service. He sat on the Board of Directors of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from 1998 to 2001 and currently serves on the Board of Governors for Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital, the Public Affairs Association of Canada, and the Canadian Club of Toronto.

Throughout his career, he has been a frequent contributor to the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail and many other publications.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University, his Certified Advertising Practitioner designation from the Institute of Canadian Advertising and the Accredited Public Relations Professional (APR) designation from the Canadian Public Relations Society.
